My inconclusive travel plans 2012

I have been in many places, but I've never been in Cahoots. Apparently, you can't go alone. You have to be in Cahoots with someone.

I've also never been in Cognito. I hear no one recognizes you there.

I have, however, been in Sane. They don't have an airport; you have to be driven there. I have made several trips there, thanks to my friends, family and work.

I would like to go to Conclusions, but you have to jump, and I'm not too much on physical activity anymore.

I have also been in Doubt. That is a sad place to go, and I try not to visit there too often.

I've been in Flexible, but only when it was very important to stand firm.

Sometimes I'm in Capable, and I go there more often as I'm getting older.

One of my favorite places to be is in Suspense! It really gets the adrenalin flowing and pumps up the old heart! At my age I need all the stimuli I can get!

I may have been in Continent, and I don't remember what country I was in. It's an age thing.

Today is one of the many National Mental Health Days throughout the year. You can do your bit by remembering to send an e-mail to at least one unstable person. My job is done!

Life is too short for negative drama and petty things. So laugh insanely, love truly and forgive quickly!

From one unstable person to another... I hope everyone is happy in your head - we're all doing pretty good in mine!

Topics of our Writers' Night Out

Tonight, Nate and I found ourselves engrossed in topics such as where we are in our current projects, which are for both of us producing good work. 

But what occurred to me as soon as I returned home tonight, wasn't so much the topics we discussed as it was the "way" we referred to publishing our work. A year ago, we would've asked each other, "Who are you going to submit to?" Now, it goes something like this, "How close are you to uploading to Kindle?" or "Great cover, who is your cover artist?" (for the record, my cover artist is Digital Donna Casey--she's super!     http://digitaldonna.com/index.html  ;-)  )  We also pushed around the idea of .99 vs. 2.99, 4.99, or even 5.99. Goodness, it's like throwing spaghetti on the wall and hoping it sticks...because in today's times, we're all still experimenting with pricing a single short story, an anthology, a novella, and the novel. So as we move ahead in the "express-lane" of publishing, I just hope we all can agree to give the reader, who is the most important party, an outstanding adventure.

Writers' Night Out x's Three

Cool Beans! Diana Driver, D. Nathan Hilliard, and I spent a good portion of the night and wee hours of the morning at Denny's Restaurant doing what we do best. Discussing the world of writing and our works. 

First, let me introduce Nate's latest: SHADES: The Mushroom Man. If ever there were a story that revvs up the "creep value" on a short story--this is the one. Here's an excerpt:

Seems like my group of friends are quite prolific and keeping up with them is, how do I say, at times intimidating. But, I shall prevail. HA! 


Diana has released her Ninth Lord of the Night novel and has also put up one of the cutest short stories--a "cozy mystery" to die for--The End of the Tour.  


Another close friend of mine, who happens to live on the other side of the planet, is Vicki Tyley. Her novels are written mystery in the finest, with all the flavors of Australia, her home. Want to sit up all night reading a book you just CAN'T put down? Try Brittle Shadows. It's a gripper! 

I have some news of my own, and will announce it soon--it's all in the timing, ya know. lol! So stay tuned, because I'll be lighting some fireworks!!

Writing To Be Read

Last night, D. Nathan Hilliard and I made it to Denny's Restaurant, our usual hang-out. We decided this week on Saturday night instead of our usual Sunday, so we'd be free to stay home and watch the Superbowl Game. :D 

We brainstormed on his latest, The Mushroom Man, and gotta tell everyone--this is one high-creep-factored short story! I loved the ending. This is all I'm going to say on this for now until he gets it "published" on Kindle. So watch for it folks, should be going up this coming week. 

I'm almost finished with Intrigue in Italics by Gayle Wigglesworth. Her mysteries will delight you with prose, with laughs, with travels abroad, and a need to want to get your hands on her next novel. I tip my cap to you, Gayle, you've delivered another great read! "Tea is for Terror" is also by Gayle, and that's the one to start with...then read all her others. :>) 


And Diana L. Driver's Ninth Lord of the Night is so captivating, you'll swear you can hear the buzz of gnats and mosquitoes. Her elements she's included in her novel will literally sweep you away into Guatemala, losing all time being absorbed in this fantastical novel. 


If any of you haven't read, Vicki Tyley's Brittle Shadows, you are missing out! It's the 3rd in her installment of "mystery-most-deceptive" and I can't wait for her next book.  xxx 


Okay gang, finally gotta mention my own two short stories, "Halo and Holly" and "Yesterday's Chance" ;)  And for a GREAT murder mystery, read my "Impact for Murder" where once again, German shepherds rule.

Announcing Vicki Tyley's "BRITTLE SHADOWS"

It gives me great pleasure to announce Vicki Tyley's BRITTLE SHADOWS.

Brittle Shadows left me in awe at the depth of good writing and a mystery so tight, it caught me off-guard! As I was one of the few fortunate asked to read the pre-release copy, I can't tell you, as a writer, how Ms. Tyley brought out more twists to the plot that leaves you thinking about the novel long after you've finished the final page. Highly recommended, definitely 5 stars!


Vicki has two other novels out, THIN BLOOD, which was chosen as Amazon's "Best of 2010," and SLEIGHT MALICE.

Striving For Balance

Since my husband's been away in L.A., I set some goals. Split between writing like crazy and catching up on the always climbing TBR stack. Well, I've succeeded in both, making sure that the writing has priority. But the outcome on the reading front has been pretty impressive also! 

Just finished Vicki Tyley's "Sleight Malice" and must say it captivated my attention from the first sentence to the end. WAY TO GO VICKI!! Good story, really good! The ending surprised me -- which didn't follow the standard rules of formula, but did, if you think really hard about it. I loved the twists, the characters (Desley's quirks and good hearted reasoning will endear this woman to your very core)--so strong, and the elements of plot. 

D. Nathan Hilliard has done it again and recently (very recent) uploaded "Shades: Wind and Dark Waters" which I wanted to put the pic up, but for some strange reason won't let me copy it. The cover is dynamite though! I'll talk to Nate later today and find out why it won't let me grab the cover and once we figure it out, I'll post it on my blog.


In the meantime, I'm rolling in Becky McAllen's world. She's exciting, filled with life, and is going to make some really tough decisions -- especially when she finds a young woman hanging upside-down from a tree, bled out, just like fresh-shot deer.
