Sometimes, cleaning out the old office makes sense...at least it did at the time I started. Now, I can't find ANYTHING!
Where did all my stuff go? Well, I filed tons of paperwork, threw stacks of old papers, printouts, etc. through the shredder and dumped the rest that wouldn't fit in the shredder in the trash. Fini, gone. Too much open space surrounds my senses now, and the clutter I found so comforting has vanished. I tell myself to not worry, because at the rate I can create stacks and piles, it won't be long till it looks like the comfort zone I had accustomed myself before.
Tonight, Nate Hilliard and I spent a writer's time-out at Denny's. We did a mental cleansing of our frustrations in writing and came out thinking like two energetic, positive, moving forward authors. Good for us! Writers statistically can write under the most unusual circumstances and we're no different. Nate has two small children, CMT, and a bucket load of responsibility. I, on the other hand, have four dogs, a writing career, and an addiction to coffee. With a husband who is semi-retired and is taking up wood working for his hobby. Good dang thing, 'cause his obsession with power tools and collecting every type of saw on the market ... well, let's just say I'm happy he's finally using his tools and skills after years of acquiring enough tools to open his own hardware store. Sheesh! I'll never understand men!!
Some really good news came to me the other day in the form of an article written for The Telegraph, a newspaper in Gr. Britain. The Chief Executive of Eurostar, Mr. Richard Brown quoted his "favourite book" as being THE SCENT OF MONEY, by Cherri Galbiati. Oh yes, oh yes, oh yes! I've finally made it across the Big Pond!!!!
Getting to share a copy of the article with my publisher made me feel pretty dern good.
September will be here in no time and Impact For Murder is due out about mid month. I'll be doing the 'Snoopy Skyclad' dance under the stars as soon as it does!
Back to cleaning out my office--I found several, okay 7 (seven) long computer cords that aren't attached to anything in here...hmmmm...

Writer's Night out at Denny's
Tonight, I enjoyed a night out at Denny's restaurant with fellow writer, D. Nathan Hilliard. We scoped out our current works in progress, ate hearty, and drank enough coffee and Diet Cola to float us out of there.
Sometimes brainstorming is the way to go. We cheer the other on, make sense of the un-sensible, and let our imaginations run amok! It does us both good to get out of our usual writing environments to let our hair down, so to speak. Good for the heart, healthy for the soul.
Time for me to now call it a day, get a good night's rest and rise early to shake these ideas out of my head.
I love being a writer!

Writing, Books, and Roadblocks
We hear it all the time, "don't compare yourself to other writers." That's a toughie. So, I strive to combat my inner envy by knowing that as my bookshelf grows, I'm making headway.
First rule in a writer's life is to remember to be patient.
Recently, "Mystery of the Green Mist" has been released and it is an anthology, which I'm in with a short story titled, THE SCENT OF BLOOD. I am truly excited about this book. Good writers and good stories compile this collection of short stories that will make your mouth water for more.
With IMPACT FOR MURDER, my second novel, coming out this Fall, I sit biting my nails waiting for the day when I can make the announcement that it's up on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Fictionwise, Mobipocket, Kindle, and goodness there's more...just like my others.
Also, I'm in two other anthologies. "A Death in Texas," which holds my story, CONNER CREEK FOG, and "A Box of Texas Chocolates," with THE BAVARIAN DROP KILLER.
There is also another anthology I'm involved in called, "Romance of My Dreams, Vol. 2," with a story titled, YESTERDAY'S CHANCE. That one isn't out yet, so I'm waiting. (remembering to be patient.lol)
Yes, I write. And also, one more anthology which will come out in September of 2011, untitled at the moment, but it will have short stories from four very good writers...moi included. My stories are finished, polished, and ready to go. Just have to wait. This anthology is special for me because it's all about Christmas. Sweet Christmas stories that will warm not only your hearth, but your heart!
I'll finish up this little blog by saying--with two novels and stories in four anthologies, soon to be five, I'm forging ahead. Not as fast as I wished, but afterall, isn't patience a virtue?
Remember to believe in yourself, don't compare yourself to others, and do the absolute best with what you've got.

Writing, Winter, and Dogs
Writing is the greatest gift Heaven gave me. Winter weather keeps my energy levels at an all time high. Our dogs make me laugh till I cry every day. Life is good.
This past November, I bombed out on NaNoWriMo. Too many things popped up...in a good way. That's okay, because my writing continued and I'm proud to announce IMPACT FOR MURDER will be coming out in 2010. Exactly when? Not sure, but the manuscript is complete, the contract is signed, and the characters in this novel have become my dearest friends.
More good news, the anthology, Mystery Of The Green Mist, will be released at the end of January. That's only a few weeks away and to say how thrilled I am to be in an anthology with such great writers is one of the highest achievements I can brag about. Writer, D. Nathan Hilliard is participating in this anthology and you'll certainly want to check him out! (as well as my own story)
Hannah, our Dutch shepherd we adopted over a year ago is still learning. Every day she tries so hard to be accepted. Her past was full of trauma and my husband and I continue to pray that she'll come to fully understand that she is no longer in danger and that no will ever hurt her again. Yes, she has mental, many mental scars--as well as physical ones from her early little life. Our other dogs, Yadar, Brie, and Cheyenne are our class clowns. They're teaching Hannah all the ropes in the arsenal how to drive their Mom crazy. It's working quite well, I might add. Gotta love 'em!
Winter came this year and broke several standing records. About time! I love cold weather and am actually getting my fill this year. We've seen snow, sleet, slush, ice...all the conditions that Houston is NOT accustomed to. The best part is that we don't have any mosquitoes. Hate those little blood suckers. And hopefully this hard freeze we're experiencing will actually kill off the larvae so the rascals won't hatch in the Spring. Cold conditions has its good side.
Soon, I'll have The Scent of Silence completed and can hardly wait to send it off to my publisher. L&L Dreamspell is the best in the business today, and I am honored to be one of their authors. I remember when they first began a little over three years ago. I am actually one of their first writers accepted into their fold. Today, they publish over 150 authors and have grown in abundance with keeping up with the trends necessary in the publishing industry. Go Linda and Lisa!
Now, time for me to say, "Good Day, wish all of you well."
